About Us

What is the Latin Honey Shop?

We are a family run business established and based in London, UK, in 2016.

We specialise in importing raw, organic, unfiltered, wild, living honey from the most exotic regions of Latin America and selling it direct to the public.

How can I buy your honey?

Online via our website latinhoneyshop.com, via our Facebook Shop at facebook.com/latinhoneyshop and via the stalls that we set up at fine food markets in the London area.

Do you have a physical location open to the public?

We do not have a permanent physical shop open to the public. All of our products are available online.

From time to time we sell our honeys at fine food markets in the London area. Please sign up to our newsletter and social media pages for details on when and where we will be next.

Are you regulated by any official bodies?

We are a private limited company registered for VAT with HMRC. We are certified and regulated by the Organic Food Federation, a process that involves physical inspection of all our premises and auditing of our documentation to ensure the organic integrity of our products.

We are also regulated by the Food Safety Agency via our local council authority, a process that involves physical inspection of our premises and auditing of our documentation. We currently hold a Food Hygiene Rating of 5 stars, the maximum possible.

Where do you get your honey from?

Most of our honey is bought directly from beekeepers in Latin America with whom we have cultivated a personal relationship. For this reason, some of our honeys are not available anywhere else in the UK or Europe.

How can we contact you?

Simply email us on info@latinhoneyshop.com. We aim to respond to all emails within 48 hours.

About Raw Honey

What is raw honey?

Raw honey is honey that has not been filtered to remove its pollen or heat treated to kill all its beneficial living nutrients.

What is the difference between raw honey and supermarket honey?

Quite simply, raw honey is honey. Supermarket honey is honey-flavoured sugary syrup that can contain artificial sweeteners and antibiotics harmful to humans.

Is raw honey safe to eat?

Yes, raw honey is safe to eat for everyone except infants under the age of 12 months and those with honey allergies.

How should I store raw honey?

Raw honey should ideally be stored in a warm place away from direct sunlight.

How should I eat raw honey?

Raw honey can be used like any other honey. For maximum health benefits, it is best to eat a spoonful on an empty stomach first thing in the morning. It is also delicious on toast, porridge or with thick, plain yoghurt, fresh cream or ice cream.

Can I put raw honey in my tea?

You can put raw honey in your tea but warming raw honey above 37C/99F kills all its beneficial living nutrients, enzymes and bacteria.

Why has my runny honey turned into set honey?

All honey crystallises with time, especially at low temperatures. In raw honey, the crystallisation process is faster because of the presence of pollen particles in the honey. In other words, the faster honey crystallises, the more likely it is to be real, raw honey.

To turn your crystallised honey into runny honey again, simply store it in a warm place, leave on a radiator overnight or place on top of a sealed container of hot water until it softens.

About Latin American Honey

Why is your brand focussed on honeys from Latin America?

Latin America is a wonderful, exotic continent that contains nearly half of all species on earth, even though it only covers one tenth of the earth's surface.

There are trees, flowers and plants native to Latin America that are not found anywhere else in the world.

This means that honey from Latin America comes in wonderful flavours, colours and aromas that is not found in honey from any other part of the world.

Is Latin American honey better than European honey?

We believe the answer to that question is a firm yes! Put simply, the geography and climate in Europe does not sustain even a fraction of trees, flowers and plants that are found in Latin America.

Due to the size of Latin America, its population density is much lower than Europe. This means that its honey comes from regions far from built up areas and so is less likely to be contaminated with pollutants.

About My Order

Where is my order?

When your order was received into our warehouse you would have received an email containing a link to our Viewport real-time order tracking system. Through Viewport, you can track the progress of your order in real-time while it is picked, packed, labelled and despatched.

My order contained the wrong items

We are very sorry about that. Simply email us at info@latinhoneyshop.com and we will fix it.

My honey arrived damaged or leaked

We are very sorry about that. Simply email us at info@latinhoneyshop.com and we will fix it.

The security sticker on my honey jar has come away from the jar

The lids on all of our jars are hygienically sealed by machine immediately after they are filled.

Sometimes during transit one end of the security sticker may become detached from the glass jar. This does not mean that the jar has been opened or unsealed and it should not affect the quality of your honey.

If, however, you believe that the contents of your honey have been tampered with, please do not hesitate to email us on info@latinhoneyshop.com so that we can fix it for you.

I want to return my honey

If for any reason you want to return your honey, simply contact us and we will give you a link to complete the returns process. Please note that for food safety reasons, we cannot refund honey that has been opened or used, unless the honey was contaminated or corrupted when you received it. If you are in doubt, please email us on info@latinhoneyshop.com.
