In traditional languages, it is known as the mountain of the "nine lakes", after the deep lakes located around its crater.

The sunflower is native to Mexico where Native American tribesmen have been benefiting from its oil, seeds and honey for over 5000 years.

Due to the heliotropic (sun-following) nature of the sunflower plant, sunflower honey possesses an extremely high concentration of pollen and beneficial minerals.

Sunflower honey contains hydrogen peroxide, a natural antibacterial agent that is formed when the glucose in the honey reacts with the enzymes secreted by bees. Bacteria are unable to survive in the presence of hydrogen peroxide.

The high concentration of pollen in sunflower honey can help strengthen the body's immune system function to help it fight infections. Flooding the body with high concentrations of natural pollen can also help the body fight the causes of hay fever.

When applied as a face mask on clean skin for 20 minutes before rinsing, it unclogs the skin pores, nourishes the skin and makes the skin softer and brighter.

Due to the fine crystals in crystallised sunflower honey, it is very good at exfoliating dead skin cells from the skin.

For maximum health benefits, eat a teaspoon of this honey first thing in the morning on an empty stomach or mix it into a glass of cool water and drink it.

For medicinal purposes, mix a teaspoon of this honey into a glass of cool water and drink three times a day.
