Medical and nutritional experts agree there is no doubt that raw organic honey is far superior to many other natural foods in terms of its health benefits to the human body.
Hundreds of clinical studies have proven the use of raw organic honey to treat and relieve conditions from high blood pressure and digestive problems to skin and hair issues.
Yet few people know that water multiplies the health benefits of raw organic honey on the body many times.
Drinking raw organic honey water has more effect on the body after a long day of fasting than at any other time.
What is raw organic honey water? Simply put, raw organic honey water is raw organic honey mixed with... water.
A teaspoon of raw organic honey mixed into a glass of cold water makes raw organic honey water. If the honey is crystallised, just stir a little harder until the honey dissolves into the water.
Here are three amazing health benefits of drinking raw organic honey water on an empty stomach, such as first thing in the morning after sleep or after a long day of fasting.
After you open your fast with dates, the best thing to drink is a glass of raw organic honey water.
1) Raw organic honey water flushes out toxins from a fasting body
When you eat a spoon of raw organic honey, the honey covers your tongue then gently glides down your food pipe, lining its walls with beneficial living enzymes, nutrients and good bacteria.
Since the honey is raw and organic, unlike processed supermarket honey, it contains all its living nutrients.
But when the honey enters the stomach it settles into a corner until it leaves.
Now having this same spoon of raw organic honey mixed into a glass of water ensure that the beneficial nutrients reach all parts of the mouth, food pipe and more of the stomach. In the process, the raw organic honey destroys all the toxins it encounters.
The more food there is in the stomach, the less of the raw organic honey water reaches the stomach linings.
Imagine watering a dry flowerbed. The first splash of water is rapidly absorbed by all parts of the soil which need it most.
Raw organic honey water is more rapidly absorbed by the body and more effective in flushing out toxins from the body.
2) Raw honey water floods a fasting body's bloodstream with beneficial nutrients
After a long day or night without food or water, the liver is empty and desperate for nutrients. Whatever enters the liver first gets first access to the bloodstream.
Imagine a line of customers waiting all night to enter a popular department store on the first day of its annual sale. Whoever gets in first gets first access to the best bargains.
Likewise, drinking a glass of raw organic honey water on an empty stomach ensures that the liver, and then the bloodstream, is flooded with beneficial living nutrients that destroy any harmful toxins they meet in their path.
3) Raw organic honey water aids healthy weight loss by flooding the intestines with prebiotics and good bacteria
The presence of harmful bacteria in the intestines does not just cause gas and bloating, it limits the ability of the body to properly absorb all the nutrients from food.
An unhealthy digestive system is one of the factors leading to excessive fat accumulation and obesity.
Drinking raw organic honey water on an empty stomach floods the empty intestines with prebiotics, which create "good" bacteria. This good bacteria multiplies in the intestines and kills any harmful bacteria present there.
This in turn purifies the digestive system and makes it more effective in absorbing the nutrients from food, leading to healthy weight loss.
As the raw honey is organic, this guarantees that no artificial chemicals enter the body at this critical stage.

In the world of fitness, the use of artificial workout supplements, including whey protein, has become commonplace. This article explores the potential drawbacks of relying on such supplements and introduces natural, healthier alternatives. Additionally, we'll discover how raw organic honey can play a beneficial role in enhancing workout nutrition.
While whey protein and other artificial supplements are often marketed as essential for muscle growth and recovery, concerns about their synthetic nature and potential side effects have emerged. Some studies suggest that excessive reliance on these supplements may lead to digestive issues, kidney strain, and an imbalance in nutrient intake.
A recent scientific study published in the Journal of Nutrition and Metabolism investigated the potential side effects of artificial workout supplements commonly used by athletes and fitness enthusiasts.
The study found that prolonged and excessive consumption of these supplements, particularly those containing synthetic ingredients such as artificial sweeteners, colors, and flavors, may lead to adverse health effects.
These side effects include gastrointestinal discomfort, such as bloating, gas, and diarrhea, as well as allergic reactions in some individuals. Furthermore, the study highlighted the potential long-term risks associated with artificial workout supplements, including liver and kidney damage, hormonal imbalances, and increased risk of chronic diseases.
This underscores the importance of exercising caution and moderation when using such supplements, as well as considering natural alternatives to support athletic performance and recovery.
Embracing a more natural approach to workout nutrition can offer several benefits without the potential downsides associated with artificial supplements. Here are some healthy alternatives to consider:
Raw organic honey can complement your workout nutrition in several ways. Unlike artificial sweeteners often found in supplements, honey contains natural sugars, antioxidants, and enzymes. Studies suggest that honey may be effective in providing a quick energy boost before workouts and aiding in post-exercise recovery.
Incorporating a teaspoon of raw honey into your pre-workout routine, such as mixing it with yogurt or adding it to a smoothie, can offer a natural source of energy without the need for artificial pre-workout supplements.
Only use real honey, not fake honey:
Remember that the honey you use must be real honey. Commercially processed cheap honey such as that found in supermarkets has lost most of its properties. It is no better than sugar in water and as such.
Only use raw organic honey. Raw means the honey is unpasteurised and has not been heat treated. Organic means the honey is independently certified to be free of chemicals and antibiotics harmful to humans.
We recommend 20+ ACTIVE Raw Organic Coffee Bean Honey from Mexico as a great pre-workout option, being our most powerful honey, and one that our customers commend for the energy boost it gives them.
Our recommended method is to mix a teaspoon of it in water and ideally drinking it on an empty stomach half an hour before breakfast, otherwise at a time you would take your pre-workout.
As we reconsider our reliance on artificial workout supplements, the shift towards natural alternatives becomes essential for long-term health. By choosing whole foods and incorporating raw organic honey, we provide our bodies with the nutrients they need without the potential risks associated with synthetic supplements.
Remember, a balanced and natural approach to nutrition can enhance your fitness journey, allowing you to unlock your true strength and potential.
Dark circles under the eyes are a common concern for many, often attributed to factors like lack of sleep, stress, or genetics. While there are countless remedies on the market, one natural solution gaining attention is raw organic honey. But does this sweet treat truly have the power to combat dark circles? Let's delve into the science behind it.
Dark circles, those pesky shadows under the eyes, occur when the skin under the eyes becomes thinner, allowing the blood vessels and the underlying dark tissues to become more visible. This can be exacerbated by factors like fatigue, dehydration, or allergies, making us look tired and aged.
Raw organic honey is not just a delicious addition to our diets; it's also packed with antioxidants, antibacterial properties, and enzymes that offer a range of potential health benefits. Some proponents suggest that applying raw honey topically to the under-eye area may help lighten dark circles and reduce puffiness.
While there's limited scientific research specifically on the effects of raw honey on dark circles, several studies highlight its potential benefits for the skin. Raw organic honey's antioxidant properties may help protect the skin from oxidative stress and promote collagen production, which could contribute to a brighter, more youthful complexion.
Additionally, honey's natural humectant properties can help lock in moisture, keeping the delicate skin around the eyes hydrated and plump, potentially reducing the appearance of dark circles and fine lines.
To harness the potential benefits of raw organic honey for dark circles, follow these simple steps:
1. Start with clean, dry skin.
2. Using clean fingertips or a cotton swab, gently apply a small amount of raw organic honey to the under-eye area.
3. Leave the honey on for 15-20 minutes.
4. Rinse off with lukewarm water and pat dry.
5. Repeat this process daily or as needed for best results.
While raw organic honey may not be a miracle cure for dark circles, its antioxidant and moisturizing properties make it a promising natural remedy. Incorporating raw organic honey into your skincare routine, along with other healthy habits like staying hydrated and getting enough sleep, may help improve the appearance of dark circles over time.
Remember, everyone's skin is unique, so what works for one person may not work for another. If you have persistent dark circles or concerns about your skin, it's always best to consult with a dermatologist or skincare professional for personalized advice.
So, the next time you reach for a sweet treat, consider saving a little raw organic honey for your skincare routine. Who knows? It might just help you say goodbye to those pesky dark circles for good.
Only use real honey, not fake honey:
Remember that the honey you use must be real honey. Commercially processed cheap honey such as that found in supermarkets has lost most of its properties. It is no better than sugar in water and as such.

We recommend Raw Organic Rivera Gum Honey from Uruguay due to its set texture, making it easy to apply on skin, as well its eucalyptus origins renowned for its skin lightening and hydrating properties.
]]>The combination of raw organic honey and lemon juice can make a great remedy for sore throats. This natural remedy is perfect for those who don't want to take antibiotics or other conventional remedies like lozenges, which are often made with sugar that can worsen your symptoms. And unlike many over-the-counter remedies for colds, it won't make you drowsy or make you feel any worse than you normally would with a cold or flu.
Evidence-based and natural, raw organic honey is a powerful healer. Its main qualities include anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-viral properties that allow it to soothe and heal a sore throat.
Many people have used honey as an all-natural remedy for sore throats, but are there specific benefits of using raw organic honey over the refined variety?
According to Dr. Paul Thomas at Raw Honey Health Benefits, "Raw honey has been shown to have many health benefits. It contains natural enzymes that aid in digestion and helps fight colds and flu by boosting your immune system."
Raw organic honey contains glucose oxidase enzymes which convert the glucose in honey into gluconic acid, hydrogen peroxide, and free radicals that destroy bacteria. The antibacterial effects of honey are a big reason for its power to heal sore throats.
A 2020 study at Oxford University, UK, of 1345 patients found that compared to antibiotics and cough medicine, raw organic honey reduced cough intensity and frequency.
Raw organic honey's ability to fight bacteria is also enhanced when mixed with other natural items high in medicinal properties. These include cinnamon, lemon, apple cider vinegar and garlic which are commonly used to treat colds, flu and sinus infection symptoms. In addition to these natural remedies, raw organic honey helps boost the immune system and can even help the body heal from the damage caused by bacteria and viruses.
Honey has been used as a home remedy for sore throats for thousands of years. As early as 2000 B.C., Egyptians used honey to treat ailments such as coughs, breathing difficulties and sores due to infections from wounds or burns. The ancient Greeks also believed in its healing power when they recommended it for treating coughs during their reign over Rome about 2200 years ago.
Some people prefer not to take antibiotics because of side effects or because they've recently taken antibiotics for another illness and don't want to become resistant or tolerant to them over time (which makes them less effective).
Antibiotics are only effective against bacterial infections while most sore throats are caused by viruses, not bacteria. Raw organic honey offers an all-natural alternative to antibiotics. And unlike many over-the-counter remedies for colds, it won't make you drowsy or make you feel any worse than you normally would with a cold or flu.
One of the most common reasons people seek medical treatment for a sore throat is due to concerns about possible strep throat. While antibiotics are effective against many bacterial infections, they won't help with the common cold or flu—which are caused by viruses. Plus, antibiotics can have side effects including nausea, diarrhea and headache so it's best not to take them unless absolutely necessary.
Another reason why some people choose not to take antibiotics is because they've recently had an infection and don't want another one soon after (this makes it more likely that bacteria will become resistant). Taking raw organic honey as an alternative may be a better option since there's no risk of developing resistance over time.
Raw organic honey offers an all-natural alternative to antibiotics by providing relief from pain and symptoms associated with sore throats so you don't need to worry about making yourself worse than you already are.
Take a teaspoon of our raw organic honey and mix into a glass of warm (not hot) water. Add a tablespoon of raw organic apple cider vinegar or organic lemon juice, and drink it on an empty stomach 30 minutes before breakfast.
Repeat the same dose as above, up to a maximum of three times a day. Always in warm water and before meals if possible. Water releases and activates the nutrients of raw organic honey.
Only use real honey, not fake honey:
Remember that the honey you use must be real honey. Commercially processed cheap honey such as that found in supermarkets has lost most of its properties. It is no better than sugar in water.
Only use raw organic honey. Raw means the honey is unpasteurised and has not been heat treated. Organic means the honey is independently certified to be free of chemicals and antibiotics harmful to humans.
We recommend our 20+ ACTIVE Raw Organic Coffee Bean Honey From Mexico for the best and fastest results due to it being our most powerful honey. It is a lab certified natural antibiotic equal to a 20.5% phenol antiseptic solution.
Raw organic honey can be used as a natural remedy for sore throats. It can help with the symptoms of a sore throat, including pain and inflammation, while also healing the damage caused by bacteria and viruses. Honey is an alternative to antibiotics because it doesn't kill off the good bacteria in your body like antibiotics do. Instead, it strengthens the immune system without causing any negative side effects.
]]>Conscientious consumers seeking alternatives to battery chicken can consider the following options:
In the realm of poultry farming, the prevalence of battery chicken farming has raised ethical concerns about animal welfare and the quality of the food produced. This article explores the drawbacks of supporting battery chicken farming and introduces ethical alternatives for conscientious consumers.
Battery chicken farming involves confining chickens to small cages, often in crowded and unsanitary conditions. This industrial approach aims to maximize production efficiency but comes at the cost of the chickens' well-being. Studies have highlighted issues such as stress, injuries, and the spread of diseases in battery farming environments.
Aside from the ethical concerns, there are questions about the quality and safety of chicken produced in battery farming systems. The close quarters and stressful conditions can lead to a higher risk of disease transmission among chickens. Additionally, the use of antibiotics as a preventive measure in such environments raises concerns about antibiotic resistance and residues in the meat.
In battery chicken farming, hormones are often administered to enhance the growth and productivity of the birds. While these practices aim to accelerate the production cycle, the use of hormones has been a subject of debate due to potential health risks. Some studies suggest that the consumption of chicken treated with growth-promoting hormones may contribute to hormone imbalances in humans, raising concerns about long-term health effects.
Conscientious consumers seeking alternatives to battery chicken can consider the following options:
Incorporating raw organic honey into your diet can complement these ethical choices. Unlike processed sweeteners, raw organic honey offers a natural alternative with potential health benefits. Studies suggest that raw honey contains antioxidants and may have antimicrobial properties, making it a preferable choice over refined sweeteners.
As we become more conscious consumers, the shift towards ethical choices in poultry farming becomes crucial. Opting for free-range, pasture-raised, or organic chicken supports better animal welfare and ensures a higher quality of meat. Additionally, incorporating raw organic honey into your diet provides a sweet touch without compromising on your commitment to ethical and wholesome food choices.
Remember, every food choice we make contributes to a more ethical and sustainable food system. Let your values guide your decisions and pave the way for a healthier, more compassionate food future.
Lactose intolerance, difficulty digesting milk sugar, has become more common due to historical, genetic, and dietary factors. Historically, communities relied on native animals for milk, but as diets changed, some developed lactose intolerance. Genetically, the ability to digest lactose varies, impacting tolerance into adulthood. Modern diets, with processed dairy, pose challenges.
Lactose intolerance stems from a deficiency in lactase, the enzyme responsible for breaking down lactose, the sugar present in milk. Symptoms range from bloating to diarrhoea after consuming dairy. While many manage by avoiding dairy, recent studies indicate that natural remedies, such as raw honey, could offer relief.
Celebrated for its health benefits, raw organic honey aids digestion. Unlike processed alternatives, raw honey retains natural enzymes and beneficial bacteria due to minimal processing. These components play a crucial role in promoting gut health, potentially assisting in the digestion of lactose.
Scientific studies highlight raw honey's impact on lactose digestion. A study by the University of California, Davis, revealed enzymes like amylase in raw honey, aiding in breaking down complex sugars like lactose. The live enzymes may complement the digestive process in lactose-intolerant individuals, facilitating better management of dairy consumption.
Some lactose-intolerant individuals report tolerating raw cow's milk, which retains natural enzymes, including lactase. However, challenges arise with pasteurised supermarket milk, where heat treatment neutralises beneficial enzymes. Research, such as that published in the Journal of Dairy Science, indicates a reduction in lactase activity post-pasteurisation, contributing to digestive difficulties.
For those considering the potential benefits of raw honey, selecting high-quality, organic options is essential. Consumption methods include direct intake, adding to tea, or incorporating into recipes. Our recommended approach is mixing a teaspoon of raw organic honey with cold or warm water and consuming it on an empty stomach half an hour before breakfast.
While raw organic honey may not be a cure for lactose intolerance, emerging evidence suggests its potential in aiding lactose digestion. Individuals should approach incorporating raw organic honey and raw organic milk into their diet mindfully and consult healthcare professionals for personalised advice.
As we unlock nature's secrets, raw organic honey emerges as a sweet ally, potentially enabling lactose-intolerant individuals to enjoy dairy more comfortably. Ongoing research promises to reveal additional ways in which nature's remedies can enhance overall well-being.

What Is IBS?
IBS stands for Irritable Bowel Syndrome. It is a gastrointestinal disorder that affects about 20% of people, two thirds of whom are women. It can cause symptoms such as cramping, bloating, diarrhoea and constipation... There are many different treatments available for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), but one natural remedy that has been found to be effective is raw organic honey.
The exact cause of IBS isn't known but researchers think it's related to how the brain signals muscles in the colon. Other research has found that chronic stress, unresolved childhood trauma, poor diet and sleep can all lead to adulthood IBS.
The study by researchers at the University of Florida found that 22 out of 30 participants who had IBS experienced relief from their symptoms when they consumed two teaspoons of raw organic honey daily. It was found that raw organic honey reduced digestive discomfort, such as abdominal pain and bloating, by 50-70%.
The researchers of the study also found that those who ate one tablespoon of raw organic honey every day experienced a significant reduction in both constipation and diarrhoea compared to those who took one tablespoon of raw organic molasses instead.
They also noted that while both groups experienced similar reductions in abdominal pain, bloating, nausea and flatulence (gas), only those who ate raw organic honey saw a reduction in stool frequency (the number of times they went to the bathroom).
The study was small, but it's important to note that raw organic honey is produced completely naturally—as opposed to processed or pasteurised honey, which can be harmful to your digestive system.
There are four things you can do now to reduce the symptoms of IBS. You will notice the results within seven days:
1. Switch from non-organic cow's milk (which is full of hormones) to organic cow's milk.
2. Eat 100g of organic kefir prebiotic yoghurt three times a day before each meal.
3. Drink a glass of raw organic honey water before you start each main meal.
4. Drink two litres of fresh water every day.
For the longer term, a course of focussed trauma therapy such as EMDR to heal unresolved trauma can be very effective in reducing or even healing IBS.
Raw organic honey has been used as a traditional remedy for gastrointestinal problems for centuries and is considered one of nature's most powerful remedies for digestive health maintenance.
Because raw organic honey has a high sugar content, it can help to soothe the stomach after a meal. The sugar and acidity of raw organic honey are thought to help neutralise the acid in your stomach, which can reduce symptoms of IBS.
With its mildly sweet taste and unique texture, raw organic honey can be used as an alternative to sugar or artificial sweeteners in both desserts and drinks. Not only does it contain antibacterial properties (which many people find particularly useful when dealing with IBS), but it also helps soothe a sore stomach after eating too much spicy food at dinner.
Raw organic honey is healthy, natural prebiotic. This means that it provides nutrition to probiotics (healthy bacteria) in your digestive system, which in turns cleans out the bad bacteria in your digestive system.
Drinking a teaspoonful of raw organic honey in water before every main meal makes your body feels more settled and helps to reduce symptoms of IBS. The antioxidants found in raw organic honey are also known to help with inflammation in the digestive system.
Only use real honey, not fake honey:
Remember that the honey you use must be real honey. Commercially processed cheap honey such as that found in supermarkets has lost most of its properties. It is no better than sugar in water and as such, it actually makes IBS worse.
Only use raw organic honey. Raw means the honey is unpasteurised and has not been heat treated. Organic means the honey is independently certified to be free of chemicals and antibiotics harmful to humans.
We recommend you take a spoonful of our award-winning medical grade antibiotic 20+ ACTIVE Raw Organic Coffee Bean Honey From Mexico mixed in water before each main meal to help support healthy digestion and reduce IBS symptoms like bloating, gas, abdominal pain, and diarrhoea.
From our standard range, either use our Raw Organic Rainforest Honey (Brazil) or our Raw Organic Pink Lychee Honey (Mexico).

A 2017 study at the Department of Nutrition in Central Michigan University, USA, reported positive effects of curcumin on conditions including high cholesterol, diabetes and dry cough. There have been a number of studies on the effects of curcumin on the human body.
A 2019 multinational study published in the Frontiers of Microbiology journal reported positive effects of curcumin on viral pneumonia. Viral pneumonia is currently widespread as a complication of coronavirus.
Golden honey milk is an old Ayurvedic recipe to relieve dry cough.
What Is Curcumin?
Curcumin is the bioactive ingredient in a common spice known as turmeric.
Turmeric is a spice that is a familiar part of Indian cuisine. In other languages, turmeric is known as haldi (Urdu/Hindi), curcum (Arabic), haluda (Bengali) and kunyit (Malay).
Turmeric is a flowering plant native to India and southeast Asia. It is a member of the ginger family and its roots look similar to ginger. Every year these roots are harvested, dried then ground to produce a bright orange powder sold around the world.
Why Is Curcumin Special?
There are a number of studies reporting on the anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and anti-viral properties of curcumin.
This is perhaps why turmeric has been used in herbal medicines in India, China and the Pacific islands for thousands of years.
What Are The Properties Of Curcumin?
There have been a number of studies on the effects of curcumin on the human body.
A 2017 study at the Department of Nutrition in Central Michigan University, USA, reported extensively on some of these effects.
The authors of this study reported positive effects of curcumin on conditions including high cholesterol, diabetes and dry cough.
Another study published in the Frontiers of Microbiology journal in 2019 brought together six researchers from universities in Germany, Brazil and Indonesia. Interestingly, this study reported positive effects of curcumin on viral pneumonia. Viral pneumonia is currently widespread as a complication of coronavirus.
While this study did not conclude that curcumin is a cure for viral pneumonia, they recommended that further research is required to study these effects of curcumin.
There is no known cure for coronavirus. Anyone suggesting otherwise is misleading people. However, herbal remedies have been reported as effective on some of the symptoms of coronavirus.
How Is Curcumin Absorbed By The Body?
Turmeric is fat-soluble so it is best absorbed by the body when it is taken with a fatty substance such as oil or milk.
The Michigan University study mentioned above also found that adding black pepper to turmeric increased the absorption or curcumin into the body by up to 2000%.
A glass of golden honey milk an hour before bedtime every night is one of the most effective ways to introduce turmeric into your diet.
The antibacterial properties of the honey combined with the anti-inflammatory properties of turmeric make a powerful drink to help your soothe the air passages that cause dry cough.
What Is Golden Honey Milk?
Golden honey milk is a drink made out of turmeric, honey, milk and pepper.
You need:
1 mug organic milk
1 teaspoon raw organic active honey
1 teaspoon organic turmeric powder
A pinch of black pepper
1. Warm the milk until it is about 40C (lukewarm). 50 seconds in a microwave is usually enough.
2. Add the honey and mix until it dissolves into the milk. If the milk is too hot you will destroy the living nutrients in the raw honey. Never microwave honey.
3. Add the turmeric and mix until dissolved into the milk.
4. Add a pinch of black pepper.
Drink with a straw.
Turmeric is also used as a colour dye due to its bright orange colour. It stains teeth so it is advisable to drink golden milk from a straw to avoid staining your teeth yellow.
Where Can I Buy Organic Turmeric Powder?
It is important that the turmeric you use is certified organic. This ensures that it is has a high purity of curcumin. The turmeric sold in supermarkets and grocery stores is often not organic so it has a lower percentage of curcumin.
Organic turmeric powder is widely available on the internet. As long as you buy from a reputable company you should be OK. If you want a second opinion on whether the organic turmeric powder you have found is organic or not, feel free to WhatsApp us on 07534488614.
What Is The Best Honey To Use With Turmeric Golden Honey Milk?
Any honey that is raw (unpasteurised) and certified organic should be sufficient. However, for maximum benefits, always use raw organic active honey. You can find out what is active honey on our blog post: What Is Active Honey?
Local honey produced in the UK is raw but it is not organic.
At the Latin Honey Shop, all our honeys are raw (unpasteurised) and certified organic by the UK Organic Food Federation GB-ORG-04.
To find out the difference between raw and organic honey, read our blog post What Is The Difference Between Raw Honey And Organic Honey?
We sell two raw organic active honeys: the 20+ Active Raw Organic Coffee Bean Honey From Mexico and the 10+ Active Raw Organic Orange Blossom Honey From Mexico.

After three years of covid and a hot summer, the winter of 2024 is set to be one of the UK's worst flu seasons for ten years: colds, coughs, fevers, sick days, wet tissues...
Are you or your children currently fighting a cold or infection?
Raw organic active honey is one way of helping your body recover quickly from an infection by boosting your body's natural immune system.
A teaspoon of 20+ active honey has equal power to a 20% antibacterial antiseptic phenol solution, but without the side effects associated with chemical-based medicines.
Taking a teaspoon of raw organic active honey in a glass of warm water three times a day half an hour before food can help relieve bacterial infections in the body.
Public Health England releases a weekly flu report monitoring outbreaks of flu across the country.
Do you or your children keep catching colds and infections?
Does it take you a long time to recover from sickness?
If so, you may have weak immunity.
Immunity is the body's defence system.
The stronger your immunity, the less likely you are to fall ill. And if you do fall ill, you recover quickly.
What is the difference between a cold and the flu?
The common cold and the flu are different illnesses but they share some symptoms.
Both are viruses and antibiotics are ineffective on viruses. However, there are things you can do to relieve the symptoms and help your body fight the virus.
Symptoms of a cold include: runny or blocked nose, sneezing, sore throat, cough and a mild fever.
Symptoms of the flu include: high fever, headaches, aching muscles, shivers, runny or stuffy nose and a sore throat.
A cold makes you feel under the weather, but the flu can confine you to bed for several days.
Last year the average number of days UK employees took off work due to sickness was 5.6.
While most people recover from the flu, children and the elderly are especially vulnerable to the worst effects of flu.
Since flu is caused by a virus, antibiotics are ineffective against flu.
How to build your body's immune system so you are less likely to fall ill
Diet, exercise, sleep... all affect immunity.
Plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, vitamins, minerals, regular exercise, sufficient sleep, all build up the body's immune system.
Raw organic honey in particular is known to contain over 15 vitamins and minerals in each spoon.
If the honey also has a lab certified activity rating, 20+, then it is like drinking a 20% antibacterial phenol solution, but without the side effects of chemical medication.
Honey with an total activity rating of less than 10 does not have sufficient antibacterial strength to make a difference to bacteria in the body.
So always look for at least a 10+ activity rating if using honey for medicinal purposes.
Taking a teaspoon of raw organic active honey in a glass of warm water before breakfast can help boost immunity without the side effects associated with chemicals found in processed food.
How to relieve symptoms of a cold and the flu
The body's immune system fights off the infections in its own time. Yet, there are some things that one can do to speed up the process and "help" the body fight sickness.
In August 2018, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and Public Health England (PHE) issued guidance to treat coughs with honey instead of antibiotics.
NICE and PHE found evidence from 3 randomised controlled trials, all of which looked at using honey in children and young people.
Two of the studies compared it with no treatment, and one allowed "supportive treatment" if needed, which included saline (salt water), nose drops, water vapour and paracetamol.
In both comparisons, children given honey coughed less often and had less severe coughs compared with those given no treatment.
Of course, not all honeys are the same. Commercially processed supermarket "honey" has been heat-treated and filtered in a process that leaves it little better than sugar syrup.
Active honey, or raw honey from specific plants and trees known for their medicinal properties is more powerful in treating coughs than commercially processed honey.
The two honeys at the Latin Honey Shop which we recommend for boosting immunity and fighting common bacterial infections are the 20+ Active Raw Organic Coffee Bean Honey or the 15+ Active Raw Organic Amazon Jungle Honey.
From our standard range, we recommend the Raw Organic Rainforest Honey and the Raw Organic Pink Lychee Honey
To use for medicinal purposes, mix a teaspoon of raw organic honey in a glass of cold or warm water and drink three times a day on an empty stomach, 30 minutes before meal times. Never microwave raw organic honey, always warm the water first before adding the honey.
All our honeys are completely natural, free of added sugar and certified organic, which means they are free from harmful pesticides, pollutants and chemicals unlike local honey.
From as little as 37p per spoon, both are available exclusively in the UK from the Latin Honey Shop. Free and fast UK delivery on all orders of £40 or more.
]]>Why do eczema and dry skin flare up during the winter months?
Why do asthma, hay fever and eczema come as a package?
What is the link between eczema and non-organic milk?
Can you really apply raw honey directly onto eczema?
What are three ways to manage eczema and dry skin naturally?
Eczema, also known as atopic dermatitis, is a long-term chronic skin condition that causes the skin to dry out and become red, itchy and cracked. It is common in babies and children, but many adults also suffer from eczema.
Winter is not a good time for those with eczema and dry skin. Windows are shut, heating is on, clothes are on and the air is dry. All contribute to drying out the skin from its natural moisture and inflaming any patches of eczema.
Eczema is usually present in people who are sensitive to allergens. Since asthma and hay fever are also atopic - caused by sensitivity to allergens - the three conditions often come together.
Here are three easy things you can do to manage eczema and dry skin naturally:
What is the link between eczema and non-organic milk?
Eczema symptoms are often made worse by triggers. These triggers are not only external, such as soaps and weather conditions, but also internal. Stress and sensitivity to certain foods also tend to cause eczema to flare up.
Cow's milk and dairy products are often blamed by eczema sufferers as a trigger for flare-ups. Many people claim to be intolerant, or sensitive, to cow's milk. Whenever they drink cow's milk, it aggravates their eczema and acne, and causes indigestion, diarrhoea and bloating.
"Cut out cow's milk," people advise. "Cut out dairy." "Only drink soya or other milks."
However, contrary to popular belief, it is not cow's milk that is the culprit, but the hormones in non-organic cow's milk that wreck the body's internal balances.
Most regular cow's milk comes from cows that are fed artificial hormones, antibiotics and steroids in order to increase their milk production in both quantity and frequency.
Consider this. The weight of an average cow is ten times that of an average human. If artificial hormones, antibiotics and steroids have an effect on cows, their effect on the human body will be ten times more than on cows.
Eczema, acne, bloating, gas, asthma... all are conditions thought to be aggravated by non-organic cow's milk.
Many, many people have found that simply switching from non-organic cow's milk to organic cow's milk, a number of their health conditions have simply disappeared, as if by magic.
Just like honey, for milk to be certified organic there are strict standards that the milk producers must adhere to in relation to their cows. They must not treat their cows with artificial hormones, or if they do, they must wait a number of months between the treatment and milking the cow.
This ensures that the hormones are flushed out of the cow's body before it is milked.
Organic milk is also more nutritious than non-organic milk, containing more Vitamin E, iron and carotenoids than its non-organic counterpart.
A study published in the British Journal of Nutrition in 2016 concluded that organic milk contains about 50% more beneficial omega 3 fatty acids than non-organic milk. Omega 3
A decade ago, organic milk would be double the price of non-organic milk. Today, the price difference between non-organic and organic cow's milk is only 40% in many major supermarkets.
One of the easiest and cheapest changes anyone, not just eczema sufferers, can make to their diet is simply to switch to organic cow's milk.
Eczema damages the layers of the skin. Dry skin, inflammation, itching, all damage the skin and expose it to more inflammation. It's a vicious circle. The skin itches, you scratch it, this damages it further, so it itches again, you scratch it and so on.
Eczema sufferers spend a lot of money and time on buying and applying aqueous creams onto their inflamed skin.
Applying raw organic honey onto eczema is not only cheaper than aqueous creams, it is also natural and free of artificial chemicals.
Raw organic honey contains living nutrients, enzymes and bacteria that nourish, heal and repair the skin layers damaged by eczema. Coarsely filtered honey also contains propolis, which is resinous glue-like mixture that bees use to seal open spaces in their hives and protect it from infection.
Artificially produced creams do not contain any living substances so while they do have an effect on damaged skin, their effect is very superficial.
One of the best honeys to apply directly onto eczema is Raw Organic Rivera Gum Honey from Uruguay. One of the world's purest eucalyptus honeys, it has a thick consistency which makes it easy to apply directly onto the skin.
Here are some guidelines on how to apply raw organic honey on eczema;
Face: apply a thin layer of raw organic honey directly onto the eczema, leave on for 20 minutes then wash (or lick!) off.
Arms, legs, other areas: apply a thin layer of raw organic honey directly onto the eczema, cover with clothes to avoid spoiling bedsheets, leave on overnight then wash off in the morning.
Raw organic honey is also safe to apply onto eczema on the skin of babies. However, it is important to avoid putting raw honey anywhere near the mouth of babies where they could ingest it. Raw honey is considered unsuitable for infants under the age of 12 months due to the risk of botulism.
It is also recommended to apply eczema on babies when they are awake, not asleep, and not to leave eczema on babies for too long as the stickiness could upset them.
If the eczema symptoms are particularly severe, then we recommend the use of an active honey such as our 20+ Active Raw Organic Coffee Bean Honey or 15+ Active Raw Organic Amazon Jungle Honey. With lab certified antibacterial bioactivity, these honeys are very powerful on healing the skin and preventing it from becoming infected.
Applying substances directly onto eczema can provide relief to the symptoms of eczema and, in the case of raw organic honey, even repair the skin. But they do not get to the root cause of what is causing the eczema in the first place.
A toxic liver caused by a diet high in sugar, processed foods, caffeine, non-organic cow's milk or alcohol, compromises the ability of the body to manage conditions such as eczema.
Dermatoxins are released from the liver and try to exit the body via the skin.
Drinking a glass of raw organic honey water once a day first thing in the morning before breakfast can help to detox the liver and make it more efficient.
Where the honey is high in heavy flower pollen, such as our Raw Organic Red Gumbo Limbo Honey from Mexico, it also has a direct effect on the sensitivity of the body to allergens.
Many customers have informed us that a daily glass of Red Gumbo Limbo Honey mixed in water has alleviated the symptoms of their hay fever.
As hay fever is commonly linked to eczema, it is possible that anything that alleviates the symptoms of hay fever would have a similar effect on the symptoms of eczema.
To make raw organic honey water, simply mix a teaspoon of raw organic honey into a glass of warm (not hot) water, maximum 40C, and drink it first thing in the morning before breakfast, and before anything else enters your body. The effects are amplified if you are able to leave at least 30 minutes between drinking the honey water and eating or drinking something else.
There are some other dietary changes that you can make to help relieve eczema and dry skin:
1. Stop using vegetable seed oils such as sunflower oil, rapeseed oil, corn oil, canola oil, etc. Seed oils are highly processed and carry a lot of toxins. They put the body under oxidative stress, which inflames eczema.
Use natural oils such as dairy butter and ghee, or coconut oil, or olive oil.
2. Eat more probiotics in the form of fermented foods such as kefir yoghurt, kimchi and sauerkraut. Probiotics work with prebiotics to heal leaky guts. You know you have a leaky gut if you suffer a lot from bloating, gas and indigestion.
3. Take extra omega 3 oil, vitamin D, magensium and iron. A daily Vitamin D spray in the morning builds the body's immune system. Spraying magnesium oil directly onto the skin at night helps the body sleep and repair. Iron keeps the blood healty and omega 3 oil keeps the harmful fats in the body low.
So to summarise:
1. Switch to organic cow's milk.
2. Apply Rivera Gum Honey directly onto eczema every day. For severe eczema, apply 20+ Active Coffee Bean Honey or 10+ Active Orange Blossom Honey.
3. Drink a glass of Raw Organic Red Gumbo Limbo Honey water daily first thing in the morning before breakfast.

There is no specific food or medicine which cures coronavirus. Doctors help to stabilise the body with medication while its natural defences fight and expel the virus.
A vaccine does not prevent you from catching or transmitting coronavirus. It only prevents you from developing serious symptoms if you catch coronavirus. It prevents the virus from taking control over your body.
If you have caught coronavirus but your symptoms are not severe enough to warrant hospital admission then you have no choice but to rest while your immune system fights and expels the virus from your body.
However, there are a number of things which you can do to help your body fight the virus if you have minor symptoms. We have listed nine things here that you can do:
1) Drink at least two litres of water every day
The body is 70% water. The body can survive days without food, but it cannot survive for too long without water.
Most people do not drink enough water. Many health problems people have from skin problems to digestion problems are partly a result of a severely dehydrated body.
Drink at least two litres of water every day, this means fresh water, excluding juices, tea, coffee or milk. Water will give your body, your blood and all your organs the strength to function at optimum capacity while it fights the virus.
Drinking more water is the single biggest improvement you can make to your health, energy and concentration overnight. You will notice the results within 24 hours.
2) Sleep at least 8 hours every day
The body repairs and heals during sleep. Lots of rest is vital when fighting an infection. "Sweating out" an infection like vigorous exercise is not recommended because it uses up energy the body could use in fighting the virus.
Going outside for even 10 minutes in the morning, before midday, helps your body sleep better at night because it balances your circadian rhythm, your body's natural internal "clock."
If you do not have a private outdoor space where you can get fresh air without infecting anyone else, then even sitting at a window for 10 minutes in the morning is better than nothing.
3) Drink a glass of raw organic active honey water three times a day, 30 minutes before meal times
Medical grade active honey is honey that has been certified by a laboratory to have at least 10+ (or MGO 263) antibiotic "activity." Anything below 10+ or MGO 263 is too weak to benefit the body.
Take a teaspoon of raw organic active honey, mix it into a glass of warm water (max 37C) and drink it 30 minutes before breakfast, lunch and dinner. Water releases the nutrients of raw organic honey and the 30 minutes allows the body to fully absorb it.
Taking honey by the spoon does not have the same benefits as taking it mixed in water.
Raw organic honey contains living nutrients, enzymes, bacteria, prebiotics, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants... a total of over 200 medically active compounds which supercharge your body and give it a boost while it fights to expel the virus from your body.
From our range, the best honey we recommend for fighting coronavirus symptoms is the 20+ Active Raw Organic Coffee Bean Honey From Mexico. With equal antibiotic strength to MGO 829 manuka honey, it has been certified by a laboratory to be equal to a 20.5% natural antibiotic solution.
Coronavirus is a viral infection, not a bacterial infection, so antibiotics are of no use against coronavirus. However, taking this honey in water regularly while you fight coronavirus helps your body maintain a strong immune system overall.
If the 20+ Active Coffee Bean Honey is outside of your budget then the next best honey from our range to use for this purpose is the 15+ Active Raw Organic Amazon Jungle Honey.
4) Take a teaspoon of raw organic black seed once a day
The black Nigella sativa seed has been extensively researched over several centuries by scientists all over the world.
Traditional herbalists Avicenna and Ibn Al-Qayyim made extensive use of black seeds in their remedies to heal a range of ailments from fevers and common colds to high blood pressure, asthma and respiratory illnesses.
The principal bioactive compound in the black seed is thymoquinone. Since 1960 at least 406 research papers on thymoquinone have been published in the PubMed database.
A 2014 study led by the University of Salzburg, Austria, documented extensively the anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and hepatoprotective effects of thymoquinone and the black seed.
Many of the traditional remedies involving black seed involve taking it with honey in some form or another. The best way to take black seed with honey is to crush a teaspoon of raw organic black seed and mix into a glass of warm water along with a teaspoon of raw organic honey.
You can buy Limited Edition Raw Organic Black Seed from the Latin Honey Shop here.
For more details, read our blog post: The Best Way To Take Black Seed With Honey.
5) Drink ginger tea three times a day
Ginger is one of the most powerful antiviral foods known to man. Adding raw organic honey to ginger tea can help your body while it fights the virus from your body.
Grate an inch of fresh ginger and boil it for 20 minutes. Allow it to cool until warm, then add a teaspoon of raw organic active honey then drink while still warm.
For more information on ginger tea, read our blog post: How Ginger With Active Honey Fights Viruses In Your Body.
6) Drink golden honey milk once a day an hour before bedtime
A 2019 multinational study published in the Frontiers of Microbiology journal reported positive effects of curcumin on viral pneumonia. Viral pneumonia is currently widespread as a complication of coronavirus.
Golden honey milk is an old Ayurvedic recipe to relieve dry cough. Curcumin is found in turmeric. For more information on how to make and take golden honey milk, read our blog post: How Golden Honey Milk Can Help Relieve Dry Cough.
7) Breathing exercises
In April 2020, a doctor from Queen's Hospital in London demonstrated a breathing technique to help coronavirus patients with respiratory symptoms.
Dr Sarfaraz Munshi initially recorded the video for his friends and family, but it went viral after being posted on YouTube, reaching more than 3 million views.
The technique involves taking five deep breaths in, holding your breath each time for five seconds. On the sixth deep breath, he instructs you to cough. He then asks you to repeat that cycle once. Then, lay flat on your front and breathe slightly deeper for 10 minutes.
There is no scientific evidence to suggest this technique helps coronavirus patients, but it is recommended by the director of nursing at the hospital.
Author JK Rowling tweeted in 2020 that the video helped her recover after she displayed symptoms of covid. A number of other covid patients have also benefitted from this technique.
The video can be found here.
8) Drink a glass of liquorice tea once a day
Scientific studies have shown that glycyrrhizin, a substance which occurs naturally in liquorice root, has been effective in fighting covid-related pneumonia. Although there is no clinical evidence to back this up, it is an alternative herbal remedy to try.
Mix a teaspoon of organic liquorice root powder (available on Amazon) into a cup of boiling water, allow to fuse for five minutes, and drink once a day, taking sips. Do not drink the powder at the bottom. Do not drink liquorice tea if you suffer from heart arrhythmia and irregular heart beats.
9) Fresh fruit and vegetables, cut out sugar
Eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables and avoid sugar until you recover. Generally, the darker or deeper the colour of the fruit or vegetable, the more nutritious it is.
White sugar puts a load on your body's immune system which takes it hours to recover from. Give your body a break from added sugar and sugary products while you recover. If you must have something sweet, have honey of course! It has natural sugars that do not affect your body in the same way as processed white sugar.

]]>In August 2018, Public Health England issued guidelines to GPs that patients should treat acute coughs with honey instead of being prescribed antibiotics.
In earlier guidance issued in 2009, the Commission on Human Medicines (UK) advised that there is evidence that over the counter cough medicines cause more harm than benefit.
The most common cough medicines contain the following active ingredients:
- Antitussives (dextromethorphan and pholcodine).
- Expectorants (guaifenesin and ipecacuanha).
- Nasal decongestants (ephedrine, oxymetazoline, phenylephrine, pseudoephedrine, and xylometazoline).
- Antihistamines (brompheniramine, chlorphenamine, diphenhydramine, doxylamine, promethazine, and triprolidine).
The Commission on Human Medicines stated in its advice:
"Given that there have been some reports of harm with these ingredients, the risks of cough and cold medicines containing them outweigh the benefits."
Antibiotics are used to treat infections caused by bacteria. However, most acute coughs are caused by viruses which neither need, nor respond to antibiotics.
Antibiotics can have unpleasant side effects so they should only be used when deemed absolutely necessary by your doctor.
Most acute coughs clear up by themselves, within a few days, but can last up to three weeks in some cases.
If your cough has not cleared up in three weeks you should see your doctor.
Public Health England found evidence from three randomised controlled trials that children given honey coughed less often and less severely than those given no treatment.
This evidence led Public Health England to suggest that honey can be used to relieve cough symptoms in children over 1 and adults.
The stickiness and viscosity of honey is what helps to relieve coughs.
Dr Mia Finkelston of Live Health Online suggests,
"Honey is a demulcent which has been known to soothe irritated mucous membranes and this, in turn, can help remove the irritant that stimulates the cough reflex."
A 2012 study on the effectiveness of honey on coughs found that honey contains more than 181 different natural substances and suggested its antioxidant and antimicrobial properties may explain why honey is effective on coughs.
Paediatric Professor Anne Chang explains, "In addition to honey coating the throat and triggering the swallowing mechanism, its sweetness likely changes the sensitivity of sensory fibres."
Honey that is processed or filtered to remove the pollen (like most supermarket honey) is hardly better than sugar mixed in water.
For honey to be effective it has to be in its most natural form, i.e. both raw and organic.
The best honey for coughs is raw organic active honey. Active honey is honey that has been tested by an independent laboratory to possess antibacterial activity.
Honey should have a strength of at least 10+ total activity to be effective.
Active honey is very powerful so it should be taken in small amounts one teaspoon at a time.
Mix a teaspoon of active honey in a glass or mug of warm (not hot) water until you get a runny consistency.
Drink on an empty stomach three times a day, half an hour before food.
For severe coughing bouts you can also take a teaspoon of active honey neat, but mixed in water is always better.
Unlike artificial medicines, honey is a natural substance that does not have any side effects... unless it is consumed in excess.
Like anything, honey should not be taken in excess. It contains calories so excessive consumption can lead to weight gain.
It also contains natural sugars that wear away tooth enamel if consumed excessively.
Raw honey should not be given to infants under 12 months of age because of the risk of infant botulism.
The Latin Honey Shop sells two active honeys: the 20+ Active Raw Organic Coffee Bean Honey from Mexico (equal to 20+ TA manuka honey) and the 15+ Active Raw Organic Amazon Junglr Honey from Brazil (equal to 15+ TA manuka honey).
Did you know that drinking a glass of raw honey water at bedtime can help you burn more body fat in your sleep than walking at a fast pace for two hours? Here's how...
When the amount of sugar in blood rises the body begins to convert all available body fuel into fat cells. These fat cells are mainly located around the belly.
A rise in blood sugar increases the production of insulin in the body, and insulin triggers the body into storing sugar as fat.
So it is a high-sugar diet, not a high-fat diet, that is responsible for obesity and high body fat.
It is mistakenly believed that eating more honey leads to weight gain. This is true if the "honey" is processed supermarket "honey", which is hardly better than sugar in water.
But raw organic honey is not sugar. Sugar is a dead substance that does not contain living enzymes and nutrients. Raw organichoney has the opposite effect on the body when it comes to weight gain.
Here are four ways how adding raw organic honey to one's diet can burn body fat:
1) Consuming raw organic honey at the start of your day
Taking a teaspooon of raw organic honey in a glass of warm (not hot) water and drinking it on an empty stomach first thing in the morning floods the digestive system with beneficial "good" bacteria and living enzymes.
These nutrients detoxify the liver and intestines and make them more efficient in expelling waste matter from the body throughout the day. The effect of a clean digestive system on healthy weight loss can be noticed in as little as one week.
2) Before bed
The body naturally burns fat during sleep. A 70kg person can burn about 552 calories in eight hours of sleep. This is equivalent to a two-hour walk at a brisk pace.
Taking two teaspoons of raw organic honey in a glass of warm (not hot) water before going to bed fills the liver with fructose and hormones.
Based on research conducted by pharmacist and sports nutritionist Michael McInnes, fructose stabilises blood sugar levels and activates recovery hormones that burn more body fat.
McInnes says, "Take your liver to bed empty and your body can't get to work with those hormones because it's desperately trying to sort out your blood glucose levels."
The key ingredient is raw organic honey, not processed supermarket honey, because it is raw organic honey that contains fructose as well as living enzymes and nutrients.
Processed supermarket honey, on the other hand, has been heat treated. This pasteurisation process kills off the living nutrients and upsets the balance of sugars in raw organic honey, leading to weight gain not weight loss.
3) Before exercise
Taking a teaspoon of raw organic honey in a glass of warm water fuels the body with just the right balance of simple and complex carbohydrates to maximise fat-burning during exercise, while reducing muscle loss.
An April 2001 study at the Exercise and Sports Nutrition Laboratory at the University of Memphis, United States, found that using raw organic honey as an energy source during exercise significantly improved performance and power during cycling trials.
The study found that that raw organic honey reduced the time taken to complete a 64km race by over 3 minutes when compared to a placebo.
And raw organic honey increased cycling power by over 6% when compared to a placebo.
4) Replace sugar in your diet with raw organic honey
Using raw organic honey in the diet instead of sugar, e.g. on cereals, porridge, desserts, etc. helps to reduce weight gain as part of an overall diet strategy.
Raw organic honey is sweeter than sugar so a small amount of raw organic honey is sufficient in place of a large amount of sugar.
Raw organic honey contains living nutrients that stabilise the blood sugar and burn body fat. Sugar spikes blood sugar levels and increases body fat.
And the living nutrients in raw organic honey stimulate the body's metabolism and increases its fat-burning capacity.
The Latin Honey Shop has a selection of single origin gourmet raw organic honeys from the most exotic parts of Latin America.
The best two raw organic honeys from our range that we recommend for fat-burning purposes are the Raw Organic White Velvet Mesquite Honey from Mexico and the Raw Organic Rainforest Honey from Brazil

]]>Liver health is crucial for overall well-being. This vital organ plays a central role in detoxifying our body, metabolising nutrients, and maintaining a state of balance. While there are various methods and diets aimed at promoting liver detoxification, one natural and delicious addition to your regimen is raw organic honey. This sweet elixir has been used for centuries for its numerous health benefits, and recent research suggests that it can be a valuable ally in supporting liver health.
A simple blood test at your GP can determine your liver health.
1. Antioxidant Power: Raw organic honey is a potent source of antioxidants, which can protect the liver from oxidative stress. These antioxidants help neutralise harmful free radicals and reduce the risk of liver cell damage. Honey contains various antioxidants, including flavonoids, polyphenols, and vitamin C, all of which play a significant role in liver health.
2. Anti-Inflammatory Effects: Chronic inflammation can lead to liver damage and disease. Raw honey has been found to have anti-inflammatory properties, helping to reduce inflammation in the liver. This can prevent long-term liver damage and support its overall function.
3. Nutrient Support: Honey is rich in essential nutrients, including vitamins and minerals such as B vitamins, calcium, potassium, and magnesium. These nutrients support the liver's metabolic processes and overall function, helping it carry out detoxification more effectively.
4. Prebiotic Properties: The natural sugars in honey act as prebiotics, promoting the growth of beneficial gut bacteria. A healthy gut microbiome is linked to improved liver function, as it helps process toxins and waste products more efficiently.
5. Energy Boost: The natural sugars in honey provide a quick and sustained energy source for the body, reducing the strain on the liver to produce glucose. This, in turn, allows the liver to focus on detoxification and other essential functions.
The best way to take raw organic honey to improve liver health, or health in general is mixed in water on an empty stomach.
Mix a teaspoon of raw organic honey into a glass or mug of warm water (max 37C) and drink first thing in the morning on an empty stomach 30 minutes before breakfast.
Water activates the nutrients of raw organic honey. The 30 minutes allows time for the honey to be fully absorbed by the body and reach all the relevant organs.
To harness the benefits of raw organic honey for liver health, you can incorporate it into your daily diet in the following ways:
1. Raw Organic Honey and Lemon Water: Start your day with a warm glass of water, a squeeze of lemon, and a teaspoon of raw organic honey. This is not only a refreshing way to hydrate but also supports liver function.
2. Raw Organic Honey in Tea: Add raw organic honey to your herbal iced-teas for a natural sweetener and an extra dose of liver-loving antioxidants.
3. Raw Organic Honey in Cooking (where the honey is not heated): Use raw organic honey as a sweetener in recipes, salad dressings, and marinades to make your meals not only delicious but also health-conscious.
4. Raw Organic Honey and Cinnamon: Mixing raw organic honey with a pinch of cinnamon can provide additional anti-inflammatory benefits.
Raw organic honey is a sweet and natural way to support liver health and detoxification. Its antioxidant properties, anti-inflammatory effects, and nutrient content make it a valuable addition to your diet. However, it's important to note that while honey can complement a liver-friendly diet, it should not be relied upon as a sole method of liver detoxification. A balanced diet, regular exercise, and a healthy lifestyle are crucial components of maintaining liver health. Always consult with a healthcare professional if you have existing liver conditions or concerns.
We recommend using 20+ ACTIVE Raw Organic Coffee Bean Honey from Mexico when working on detoxing your liver.
]]>"Don't eat honey!" is what doctors and nurses tell diabetic patients. They are right.... if they mean the sugary syrup sold in supermarkets labelled "honey."
But raw organic honey is different to the sugary syrup "honey" sold in supermarkets.
Over the past few years, raw organic honey has become a popular supplement for patients with diabetes. The research suggests that it could help improve blood sugar levels in people who have type 2 diabetes.
A university study in Turkey found that people with type 2 diabetes who ate 5 grams of raw organic honey daily for four months reduced their Haemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) level. HbA1c is a measure of blood sugar control over recent months.
Diabetes is a serious disease that affects millions of people. It's important to always consult your doctor if you suffer from diabetes, but there are other ways to treat it that are worth exploring as well. Raw organic honey could be one of those tools that can help with managing diabetes.
Diabetes is a disease that causes high blood sugar. It affects all ages, races, and genders. Diabetes can be caused by genetics or lifestyle factors (like eating too much sugar, childhood trauma or years of stress).
The pancreas is an organ that produces insulin, which helps control the amount of glucose in your blood stream. If you don't have enough insulin to process glucose from food, your body will shut down its ability to do so and begin storing excess sugar as fat for future energy needs instead. This is why people who have diabetes tend to gain weight—their bodies are trying to store energy for when there's not enough coming in.
Diabetes is a dangerous disease that compromises your immune system and can cause serious problems, including amputations and blindness.
Diabetes can also cause heart disease and kidney disease, which are some of the leading causes of death in the United Kingdom. In fact, it's estimated that diabetes will affect about 1 in 10 people globally by 2030.
If you have diabetes, it’s important to take your medication as prescribed and see a doctor if you have any problems with your diabetes. If left untreated, diabetes can cause serious health problems, including heart disease and stroke.
A study published in the Journal of Diabetes Research suggests that raw organic honey can be a useful tool for managing diabetes. The research team found that consuming raw organic honey was able to lower blood sugar levels and improve insulin sensitivity (the ability of cells in the body to process glucose).
These results support previous studies on the effects of natural sugars on health. In particular, they support the recommendation from Diabetes UK that diabetics should limit processed sugar intake in order to decrease risk factors associated with cardiovascular disease.
It also adds evidence to existing research suggesting that unprocessed forms of natural sweeteners are beneficial for both diabetics and those without diabetes alike.
In another study, researchers found that raw organic honey helped reduce blood sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes by about 20%. It also reduced cholesterol and triglyceride levels. The study was done on rats, but the results were promising enough to warrant further investigation into whether it could be effective for humans as well.
In addition, another study conducted on diabetic patients who already had some insulin production and required only tiny doses of synthetic insulin, beeswax (which is present in unfiltered raw honey) raw organic honey actually increased their body's own production of insulin by 16%. This means they needed less medication to control their blood sugar levels.
If you're a diabetic, raw organic honey might be even more useful for you than it is for people who aren't. Raw organic honey contains glucose and fructose, both of which are naural sugars, which can be absorbed more slowly than processed sugar.
This means that the insulin your body produces won't spike as quickly when you eat it, so your blood sugar levels will remain steady long enough to give your pancreas time to produce more insulin if needed.
Did you know that white rice is more harmful to a diabetic than raw organic honey?
Yes. The glycemic index of white rice is 72 whereas the glycemic index of raw organic honey ranges from 35-55 depending on the type of honey.
There is a common misconception that raw organic honey contains artificial sweeteners. This is not the case; in fact, there's no added sugar or sweeteners of any kind in raw organic honey.
For raw organic honey to contain added sugar it would mean that the beekeeper, organic certifier inspectors and government officials in several countries would have to come together and plan a conspiracy. It's highly unlikely.
There are other ways to manage diabetes too. The most common is with medication. Prescription medications can help regulate blood sugar levels and lower the risks of microvascular complications, but they often come with unpleasant side effects. If you're taking medication, it's important to consult your doctor about what foods may interfere with its effectiveness and how often you need to take it before eating something that contains sugar.
You may be prescribed insulin which helps with digestion and regulates blood sugar levels by removing excess glucose (sugar) from your bloodstream after you eat foods high in carbohydrates such as pasta, bread or cereal.
Another alternative treatment for diabetes involves decreasing your insulin resistance through exercise and weight loss—but this isn't always easy or possible if you're already overweight or struggling with a sedentary lifestyle.
Therapy such as EMDR to address unresolved childhood trauma has also been shown to reduce type 2 diabetes in adults. When stress is reduced, the liver slows down the release of sugar into the bloodstream.
Only use real honey, not fake honey.
Remember that the honey you use must be real honey. Commercially processed cheap honey such as that found in supermarkets has lost most of its properties. It is no better than sugar in water. It can be very harmful to diabetics.
If it's not raw, it's not honey.
If it's not organic, it may contain chemicals harmful to humans.
Only use raw organic honey. Raw means the honey is unpasteurised and has not been heat treated. Organic means the honey is independently certified to be free of chemicals and antibiotics harmful to humans.
Did you know that there is a honey produced by bees feeding on a fruit which helps manage diabetes?
Yes, it's the pink lychee fruit.
A 1986 study in China found that lychee extract improved insulin resistance when given to type 2 diabetic patients.
A 2010 study published in the British Journal of Nutrition found that oligonol, a compound occurring naturally within lychee fruits, reduced liver damage associated with diabetes.
And guess where you can get the best Raw Organic Pink Lychee Honey in the world? A honey harvested with love and care by a Mexican woman beekeeper on the Atlantic coast. It is the only honey of its type in Mexico.
Only at the Latin Honey Shop of course. :)
So how do you take it?
Take one teaspoon of Raw Organic Pink Lychee Honey From Mexico mixed in a glass of warm water on an empty stomach 30 minutes before breakfast.
Water activates the nutrients and properties of raw organic honey. The 30 minutes allows the body to fully absorb the honey before anything else enters it.
So one teaspoon in water, once every morning before breakfast, no more.
Do not take raw organic honey without consulting your doctor if you have type 1 diabetes (take insulin) or unstable blood sugar (hypos).
With the right amount of raw organic honey, you could potentially improve your blood sugar levels and reduce your risk of diabetes. Talk to your doctor about how much raw organic honey is right for you (we recommend no more than one teaspoon in water a day), but do not forget to make other lifestyle changes like exercise, healthy eating habits and EMDR therapy.
Eat a diet low in refined carbohydrates and high in fiber (such as whole grains), and exercise regularly by walking at least 20 minutes per day at moderate intensity or doing more vigorous exercise like running or swimming for 30 minutes three times per week, and get sufficient sleep (7–8 hours per night).
Raw organic honey offers yet another alternative treatment option for people living with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM), which affects more than 400 million people worldwide according to World Health Organisation estimates.
It’s important to talk to your doctor about using raw organic honey as an additional treatment option for diabetes. If you do choose this method, keep in mind that it should not replace any prescribed medication or other treatments for your condition.
]]>Mental health problems are extremely common today. Approximately 1 in 4 people in the UK experience a mental health problem every year. Many of whom will typically seek artificial medication with a long list of side effects, leading them on into a vicious cycle of medication after medication, and every problem being replaced replaced by another.
In today's fast-paced world, maintaining good mental health is more crucial than ever. The pressures of daily life, stress, and anxiety can take a toll on our well-being. While it is important to consult your doctor if you experience serious mental health issues, we would like to ensure you have some natural options with no harmful side effects.
In a notable study published in 2018 in the journal Nutrients, researchers explored the potential impact of honey consumption on mental health. The study, titled "Effects of Natural Honey Consumption in Rats with Traumatic Brain Injury-Induced Insomnia," focused on rats with traumatic brain injury-induced insomnia, a condition that often leads to sleep disturbances and heightened anxiety. The results of the study were intriguing, as rats that were fed natural honey displayed remarkable improvements in their sleep patterns. They not only enjoyed more restful sleep but also demonstrated reduced anxiety levels. Moreover, honey-fed rats exhibited enhanced cognitive performance compared to control groups. These findings suggest that raw organic honey may hold promise in positively influencing both sleep quality and mental well-being, possibly attributed to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
It's important to note that while this study provides valuable insights into the potential benefits of honey for mental health, further research is needed to establish a direct correlation in human subjects. Nonetheless, this research underscores the potential of honey as a natural and holistic element in promoting mental well-being and addressing conditions linked to sleep disturbances and anxiety.
Raw organic honey contains compounds like phytonutrients and antioxidants that can help reduce oxidative stress in the body. When our bodies are under stress, they produce free radicals that can harm our cells and even affect our mental well-being. The antioxidants in honey help combat these free radicals, potentially reducing the impact of stress on our mental health.
Consuming honey may have a direct impact on our mood. Raw organic honey contains tryptophan, an amino acid that plays a crucial role in the production of serotonin, a neurotransmitter that regulates mood. An adequate supply of serotonin is essential for maintaining a positive outlook and emotional balance. Incorporating raw organic honey into your diet may help boost serotonin levels, leading to improved mood and emotional well-being.
Sleep is a fundamental component of mental health, and raw organic honey can play a role in promoting better sleep quality. The natural sugars in raw organic honey help increase insulin levels, which, in turn, allows tryptophan to enter the brain more easily. As mentioned earlier, tryptophan is a precursor to serotonin, which can be converted into melatonin—a hormone that regulates sleep. A warm glass of milk with a spoonful of raw organic honey before bedtime is a time-honored remedy for those seeking a restful night's sleep.
Anxiety is a common mental health concern that affects millions of people worldwide. Raw organic honey may offer some relief due to its calming properties. Its natural sugars can help stabilise blood sugar levels, preventing the spikes and crashes that can exacerbate anxiety symptoms. Moreover, honey's soothing and comforting taste can provide a sense of relaxation and comfort during stressful moments.
Research increasingly highlights the connection between gut health and mental well-being. Raw organic honey can support a healthy gut microbiome. It acts as a prebiotic, providing nourishment for beneficial bacteria in the gut. A balanced gut microbiome has been associated with improved mood and reduced symptoms of depression and anxiety.
Honey is not only beneficial for emotional well-being but also for cognitive function. The antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties of honey can help protect brain cells from damage and promote overall brain health. This can result in improved memory, focus, and mental clarity.
While raw organic honey may not be a panacea for mental health issues, it can undoubtedly play a supportive role in promoting emotional well-being. Its natural compounds, including antioxidants, tryptophan, and prebiotics, offer a range of benefits that can help reduce stress, enhance mood, improve sleep, and support overall cognitive function. As part of a holistic approach to mental health, incorporating natural remedies such raw organic honey, wet cupping, and psychotherapies into your life may be an effective approach. Remember, though, it's essential to consult with a healthcare professional for personalised guidance if you're dealing with serious mental health concerns.

]]>Air pollution is a major problem in many parts of the world. It can cause a variety of health problems, like respiratory infections, heart disease, and cancer. There are a number of things that can be done to reduce air pollution, and raw organic honey is one of them.
According to the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, one of the main reasons for the introduction of the controlversial ULEZ program in the UK is to improve the quality of the air we breathe due to the health problems and hospitalisations caused by illnesses related to air pollution.
While we are not taking a stance for or against this initiative, we will tell you how you can protect yourself from air pollution whether you are in London, or anywhere in the world.
We may not have control on our environment, but we have control of our own health.
A study published in the journal "Environmental Pollution" found that people who consumed raw organic honey for 12 weeks had lower levels of oxidative stress and inflammation than those who did not consume honey. The study also found that the honey group had improved lung function.
Another study, published in the journal "Nutrition Journal", found that raw organic honey can help to protect against the effects of air pollution on the heart. The study found that honey consumption reduced the risk of heart attack and stroke in people who were exposed to air pollution.
These studies suggest that raw organic honey can be a helpful way to protect against the harmful effects of air pollution. However, it is important to note that honey is not a cure for air pollution. It is still important to take other steps to reduce exposure to air pollution, such as avoiding smoking, and exercising outdoors in less polluted areas.
Raw organic honey contains antioxidants, which can help protect the body from the harmful effects of air pollution. Antioxidants are substances that can neutralize free radicals, which are unstable molecules that can damage cells. Exposure to air pollution can increase the production of free radicals in the body, so antioxidants can help protect against this damage.
In addition to antioxidants, raw organic honey also contains pollen. Pollen is a source of nutrients and other beneficial substances, including flavonoids. Flavonoids are plant compounds that have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. They can help reduce inflammation, which is another way that air pollution can damage the body.
There are a few different ways to take raw organic honey for air pollution. You can:
Eat it by the spoonful
Add it to iced tea or water
Use it as a topical treatment on your skin or airways
The amount of honey you need to take will vary depending on your individual needs, but usually a couple teaspoons a day will suffice.
In addition to taking raw organic honey, there are a number of other things you can do to avoid air pollution. These include:
Avoiding walking in polluted areas
Keeping air purifiers in your home
Planting trees in your yard or community
Checking air qulaity online to find the ideal time to go out
By taking these steps, you can help improve the quality of the air you breathe and protect your health.
Raw organic honey is a natural and effective way to help protect your body from the harmful effects of air pollution. It is a safe and affordable option that can be easily incorporated into your daily routine. If you are concerned about the effects of air pollution on your health, you may want to consider taking raw organic honey.
Only use real honey, not fake honey:
Remember that the honey you use must be real honey. Commercially processed cheap honey such as that found in supermarkets has lost most of its properties. It is no better than sugar in water.

We recommend using our 20+ ACTIVE Raw Organic Coffee Bean Honey from Mexico due to its high antibiotic strength, and with the high levels of pollution in the air today, this level of protection is ideal.
If you also struggle with hay fever and are looking for a more affordable alternative, our Raw Organic Red Gumbo Limbo Honey from Mexico is a great option as well.

As we explained in our recent blog post, Can Honey Protect Me Against The Deadly Coronavirus?, a teaspoon a day in water of medical grade active honey can build your body's immunity fast.
Medical grade active honey is honey certified by an independent laboratory to have antibacterial power of at least 10+.
In the case of manuka honey, anything less than MGO 263 (10+ UMF) is not powerful enough to benefit the body.
There are also other natural foods that you can take to make you less likely to catch a virus.
And if you do catch a virus, they can help your body fight it off quickly.
But what if you have already caught a virus?
Like antibiotics, honey has strong antibacterial properties and it is effective against bacterial infections.
But bacterial infections are different to viral infections, which is why doctors do not prescribe antibiotics for viral infections.
Although there is also scientific evidence for the antiviral properties of active honey, other natural foods can be taken with the active honey to increase its antiviral power.
Fresh ginger is one such food.
Ginger has been used for thousands of years for the treatment of numerous ailments, such as colds, nausea, arthritis, migraines, and hypertension.
Chinese, Indian, African, Arab and Latin American herbal remedies all use ginger extensively.
The medicinal, chemical, and pharmacological properties of ginger have been extensively reviewed by modern scientists.
6-gingerol is a chemical compound found naturally in ginger (hence the name). 6-gingerol is where most of the medically active properties of ginger come from.
A 2001 study at Kuwait University reported positive effects of ginger on illnesses of the digestive system, heart, blood pressure, cholesterol, arthritis, migraine, nausea, motion sickness, pain relief and viruses.
A 2013 study at Kaohsiung Medical University, Taiwan, published in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology, demonstrated that fresh ginger is effective against human respiratory syncytial virus (HRSV) infections.
HRSV infections are responsible for a wide range of respiratory illnesses including the common cold.
The authors of this study found that fresh ginger prevents infection from this virus by blocking the virus from attaching to the body's healthy cells.
The best way to get both the antibiotic benefits of raw active honey and the antiviral benefits of fresh ginger is to combine the two in water as described in this recipe below.
Taking ginger by itself does not have the same effect as taking it mixed in water with raw active honey.
The following makes approximately two mugs of raw organic active honey ginger water:
1. Take two inches of fresh organic ginger, grate it and add to 2 litres of boiling water. If you can't find organic ginger, any ginger will do.
2. Boil at low power for 30 minutes with the lid on. The water volume should reduce by just over half.
3. Allow to cool for 15 minutes with the lid off.
4. Add two teaspoons of raw organic medical grade active honey of at least 10+ TA strength. 20+ TA is twice as powerful. Stir until the honey has dissolved into the water.
5. Drain and drink. You will feel a burning sensation in your throat when you drink this, this is perfectly normal.
Drink a mug every six hours up to a maximum of three times in a 24 hour period. Do not take for more than seven days at a time otherwise you can have adverse side effects.
It is important that you allow the mixture to cool before adding the honey. Heating raw honey to temperatures above 37C kill the living nutrients in raw honey.
Always consult a medical professional before taking ginger if you have an existing health condition that requires medication.
Remember, there is no known cure for coronavirus and the above recipe is not a cure for coronavirus. However, there is scientific evidence to suggest that the above recipe can help relieve the symptoms of viral infections in your body.

Did you know that skipping breakfast can affect your child's growth and reduce their academic performance?
A 2018 study published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that children who regularly skipped breakfast had an increased amount of processed sugar in their diet. They also had a lower intake of key nutrients, vitamins and minerals.
Children who skip breakfast have reduced concentration because of low blood sugar levels. They try to make up for these low blood sugar levels by eating sugar-rich food and snacks throughout the day. As a result their bodies do not get the key nutrients, vitamins and minerals that they need to grow and function healthily.
A study earlier this year conducted by Osaka University, Japan, and published in The International Journal of Obesity found that children who skipped breakfast were 18-116% more likely to be overweight or obese than children who ate breakfast.
Millions of children return to school this week after the summer holiday break. Most parents understand the need to give their children a healthy breakfast before they start their school day. But busy parents find it hard enough getting their children to have breakfast at all, let alone eat a healthy breakfast.
There is no doubt that giving a child an unhealthy breakfast is better than them not having breakfast at all. But giving a child a healthy breakfast has a direct effect on their academic performance throughout the school day.
Supermarket breakfast cereals are notoriously high in added sugar. The obvious culprits are cereals such as Sugar Puffs, Frosties and "choco" cereals. But even "non-sweet" cereals have a high added sugar content. Whenever you buy a breakfast cereal, always look at the "Carbohydrates - of which sugars" figure in the nutritional value table. The lower the "sugars" value, the better.
However, try convincing a child to eat a bland cereal that is not sweet. The chances are that they will sprinkle some sugar on top. Sprinkling sugar on top of a low-sugar cereal defeats the object. Processed supermarket "honey" might seem a healthy alternative, but it can actually be worse than adding sugar.
But cereals are always a better choice than cheap breakfast or cereal bars. Parents often give their child one of these if there is no time for a proper breakfast. Try looking at the "sugars" value of some of these cereal bars. You might as well put sugar in a bag and give it to your child rather give them a cheap cereal bar.
Organic or natural sugar cereal bars are a healthy alternative, but unless you are a millionaire you probably won't be giving £2 cereal bars to your children every day.
Milk, oatmeal, eggs, yoghurt, toast, peanut butter, fruits, nuts, honey... all are some ways to make your child's breakfast healthier.
And on those odd days when you are running late, a glass of milk is far better than anything else. However, it is still not an alternative to a healthy breakfast.
Most busy parents do not have the benefit of preparing healthy cooked breakfasts for their children. However, adding half a teaspoon of raw organic honey to your child's breakfast is a quick and easy way to increase its nutritional value while still making it taste nice. You can easily raw organic honey to milk, oats, cereal, yoghurt or toast.
There are many benefits of adding half a teaspoon of raw honey to your child's breakfast. Here are five of them:
1) Your child is likely to concentrate more throughout the school days
A breakfast containing raw organic honey increases your child's blood sugar level, which in turn increases the energy available to the brain. The brain needs energy to concentrate, learn and grow.
2) Your child is less likely to binge eat on sugary snacks throughout the day
A 2010 study by the University of Wyoming found that adding raw honey to breakfast instead of sugar activates hormones that suppress the appetite. "Feeling full" means that your child is less likely to binge eat on sugary snacks throughout the day in order to bring up their blood sugar levels.
3) Your child will be less "hyperactive" than when eating foods containing added sugars
Any parents will be familiar with the effect that sweets and sugary foods have on a child's temperament and behaviour. Raw organic honey contains natural sugars that, like fruit, do not cause a "sugar rush".
4) Your child will have more energy for physical activities and sports
As we describe in another blog post in more detail, raw honey can improve physical performance in sports. An April 2001 study at the Exercise and Sports Nutrition Laboratory at the University of Memphis, United States, found that using raw honey as an energy source during exercise significantly improved performance and power during cycling trials.
5) Your child is less likely to get sick
Schools are festering grounds for all types of viruses and bacteria that cause illnesses. A 2004 study at the University of California-Davis found that people who ate raw honey every day for 29 days had higher levels of disease-fighting antioxidants in their blood. Raw honey, especially active honeys such as our 20+ Active Coffee Bean Honey and 10+ Active Orange Blossom Honey, contains polyphenols, which protect the body from disease. If your child gets sick frequently, try one of these two active honeys to boost your child's immunity.
Why do children dislike honey? It's because they are used to the sickly sweet taste of runny supermarket "honey" not genuine, raw organic honey. We have many customers whose children refused to eat honey until they tried our honeys.
Our honeys most popular with children in terms of taste are our Rivera Gum Honey from Uruguay, Pink Lychee Honey from Mexico and Rainforest Honey from Brazil.

What causes hay fever?
Why is local honey not effective on hay fever?
What is the difference between light grass pollen and heavy flower pollen?
How do you use raw organic honey for relief from hay fever symptoms?
What is hay fever?
Hay fever- also known as allergic rhinitis - is a condition that affects over 10 million people in Great Britain.
Approximately 80% of asthma sufferers also have a pollen allergy. This means that many asthma sufferers may not even know that the cause of their asthma is pollen and they only treat the symptoms and not the causes.
Hayfever medication has many side effects, including drowsiness, so it is not recommended for long term use.
What are the symptoms of hay fever?
Pollen counts start to rise from late March until September. Warm and windy weather conditions allow the pollen to be airborne which leads to the following symptoms:
What are the symptoms of asthma?
If you have asthma, you might also:
Studies have shown that flooding the body with organic flower pollen which is similar to grass pollen can quickly desensitise hay fever sufferers by means of immunotherapy.
Which honey is effective for hay fever?
Contrary to widespread belief, local honey is actually ineffective in building resistance to pollen. This is because most hay fever is usually caused by light grass and tree pollen.
Bees, on the other hand, feed on heavy flower pollen, not light grass and tree pollen.
Raw organic honey that is produced by countries with a rich diversity of plants can produce a much higher pollen count per teaspoon.
Over half the world's plant species exist in tropical rainforest zones such as Latin America.
When the honey is raw it is still alive. It has not been heated above 37C, which kills the beneficial living nutrients that the honey possesses.
And certified organic honey is the gold standard of purity when it comes to honey. It is safe from pollutants and pesticides which make hay fever worse.
The honey should be unfiltered. Filtered honey as found in the clear, runny honeys on supermarket shelves has had the beneficial pollen removed from it.
Local honey, especially from countries like the UK, is also ineffective on hay fever because it is high in pollutants and pesticides and has a low pollen count of high quality pollen.
How do you use raw organic honey for relief from hay fever symptoms?
Hundreds of customers have told us that our Raw Organic Red Gumbo Limbo Honey from Mexico has helped relieve their hay fever symptoms after all other remedies have failed.
One customer told us:
"For seven years I have suffered from severe hay fever. I tried steroids, medication, manuka honey, sidr honey and other raw and organic honeys but none worked for me as the Raw Organic Red Gumbo Limbo Honey from the Latin Honey Shop. It instantly hit my hay fever."
Another customer review said:
"Beats hay fever like a bullet!"
The thing is we don't exactly know why it works. Perhaps this honey contains a type of flower pollen which is similar to light grass pollen?
Take a teaspoon of Raw Organic Red Gumbo Limbo Honey and mix it into a glass of cold or warm water every morning 30 minutes breakfast and up to three times a day in total. Always in water, always before meals.
Water activates the nutrients of raw organic honey and the 30 minutes allows the body to absorb it fully before any other food enters it.
If you are out and about, keep a jar of Raw Organic Red Gumbo Limbo Honey in your bag and eat it neat to relieve your symptoms. It is also effective in soothing a tickly throat and easing any constriction of air ways.
It is made by bees feeding 3000 feet high in the Sierra Madre mountains of northeast Mexico. Organic mountain honey from Latin America has one of the highest pollen counts in the world and is also renowned for its high nutrient value.
Raw Organic Red Gumbo Limbo Honey from the Sierra Madre mountains of Mexico is available exclusively from the Latin Honey Shop.
A 2022 study conducted by researchers at the Federal University of Ceará in Brazil found that a raw organic honey from the Brazilian rainforest can improve fertility by reducing chronic inflammation in the body. The researchers called it the "fertility honey."
Infertility is an incredibly heartbreaking condition that affects millions of people around the world. It's a serious problem which causes a great deal of stress and hurt to couples. Thankfully, there are lifestyle and dietary changes that one can make to improve fertility.
A recent study has found that an organic, raw organic honey from the rainforest of Brazil may help with infertility.
Stress may impact a woman's menstrual cycle and ovulation, along with other hormonal functions in the body. It can also cause her to gain weight or become underweight, which would affect her fertility as well. This makes stress management an important part of overcoming infertility since it may be keeping you from getting pregnant naturally or even at all (if your body shuts down).
Environmental toxins like pesticides, heavy metals like lead, mercury and arsenic can disrupt your endocrine system which in turn affects hormones such as oestrogen/progesterone that regulate things like ovulation cycles as well as sperm production in men. The good news is there are many ways we can protect ourselves from these toxins by eating organic food instead of conventionally farmed produce grown using chemical fertilizers; avoiding unnecessary medications whenever possible; avoiding artificial sweeteners such as aspartame or sucralose; reducing exposure while pregnant/breastfeeding; etc.
Researchers at the Federal University of Ceará in Brazil studied a raw organic honey from the Brazilian rainforest.
The raw organic honey was tested on mice and found to have a high level of antioxidants. It was also found to be more effective than metformin, which is one of the most commonly prescribed drugs for people with insulin resistance and diabetes. It was also shown to improve fertility by regulating hormones, reducing inflammation and increasing sperm count.
The researchers found that this raw organic honey had high levels of several antioxidants including flavonoids, phenols and monoterpenes. These are all known anti-inflammatory agents that can help treat infertility in women.
The raw organic honey is produced by remote tribes in the Brazilian rainforest, who harvest it from wild bees that pollinate in the trees around their villages. It has been used for centuries as a natural remedy for many ailments and conditions, including infertility. The raw organic honey, that scientists are calling "fertility honey," is extremely rare and hard to come by.
The researchers tested the honey on mice who were unable to get pregnant because of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), which affects up to 30% of women worldwide.
PCOS is a hormone imbalance that can cause infertility, acne, hair loss and unwanted weight gain. The condition occurs when a woman's body produces too much of the male hormone androgen. As a result, her ovaries become enlarged and produce an egg every month instead of releasing only one egg at a time during each cycle — which can make it harder for her to get pregnant.
When the researchers tested the fertility honey, they found that it changed the way glucose and insulin interact in the body. In the study, The raw organic honey was able to improve glucose tolerance in mice with PCOS, and it also increased the number of eggs that were released by the ovaries.
The researchers found that when they fed some of these mice raw honey for two weeks (and then stopped feeding them), about half became pregnant within seven weeks — compared with less than 10 percent among those who didn't receive any honey treatment.
Another study in 2014 published in the Journal of Family Reproductive Health found that supplementing raw honey resulted in enhanced sperm quality. Raw organic honey is also rich in vitamin B which can help boost testosterone in men.
Drinking a glass of warm water with a teaspoon of honey mixed into it half an hour before breakfast on an empty stomach is the most effective way of benefitting from the enzymes and antioxidants present in raw organic honey.
And guess where you can get the exact rare raw organic rainforest honey produced by the remote tribes in Brazil? Yes, right here at the Latin Honey Shop. Our award-winning Raw Organic Rainforest Honey From Brazil, is produced by bees feeding in the Brazilian rainforest.
The name “fertility honey” is a little misleading. While it may be true that raw organic honey can help with fertility, it's not the only ingredient that will make a difference. The way you use the honey, in conjunction with other lifestyle and dietary changes, is what helps with fertility.
This is not to say that honey has no effect on your ability to conceive; it simply means that you need more than just raw organic honey in order for this treatment to be effective. Read on for more details of other dietary and lifestyle changes which can help fertility.
These changes apply to both men and women.
1. Only eat organic dairy products, especially milk. Non-organic dairy contains high level of hormones which wreck havoc with the body's processes.
2. Drink a minimum of two litres of fresh water every day.
3. Exercise for 15 minutes a day which raises your heartrate until you break into a light sweat. A brisk walk is fine, it doesn't have to be a gym workout.
4. Only eat free range or organic eggs.
5. Only eat free range or organic chicken. Battery chickens contain high level of antibiotics and hormones.
6. Avoid beef as it has high levels of hormones. Lamb is the meat least likely to contain hormones, then mutton, then beef, then chicken.
7. Avoid seed oils as they are hydrogenated and produce trans fats as by products. Only use butter, ghee, cold pressed olive oil or coconut oil.
8. De-normalise sugar so you only have sugar as a treat, it is not the norm.
9. Spend as much time in nature, among greenery and natural water, as possible. Spending time in nature calsm the nervous system.
10. Sleep, at least seven hours of quality sleep. Sleep works wonders for the body and for infertility.
]]>Hepatitis is a viral infection that causes inflammation of the liver, leading to symptoms such as fatigue, jaundice, and abdominal pain. While there are several different types of hepatitis, including hepatitis A, B, and C, all forms of the disease can lead to liver damage if left untreated. While there is no cure for hepatitis, there are various treatments that can help manage its symptoms, including the use of raw organic honey.
Raw organic honey is known for its antimicrobial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties, which make it an effective natural remedy for many health conditions, including hepatitis. Scientific studies have shown that honey can help improve liver function and reduce inflammation, both of which are beneficial for managing hepatitis.
One study published in the Journal of Food Biochemistry in 2019 investigated the effects of honey on rats with liver damage caused by a toxin. The researchers found that the rats given honey had reduced liver inflammation and improved liver function compared to those who did not receive honey. The study also found that honey had antioxidant effects, reducing oxidative stress in the liver.
Another study published in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology in 2018 investigated the effects of honey on rats with liver damage caused by alcohol. The researchers found that honey improved liver function and reduced inflammation in the rats' livers. The study also found that honey had anti-fibrotic effects, which could help prevent or reverse liver fibrosis, a common complication of hepatitis.
Raw organic honey contains various nutrients and compounds that can help support liver health and function. For example, honey is rich in antioxidants, which help protect the liver against oxidative stress and damage. It also contains vitamins and minerals, such as vitamin C and calcium, which support overall health.
To use honey for hepatitis, it is most effective to mix a teaspoon of 20+ ACTIVE Raw Organic Coffee Bean Honey from Mexico in a glass of lukewarm water, and drinking it on an empty stomach half an hour before breakfast.
In conclusion, raw organic honey has been shown to have beneficial effects on liver function and inflammation, both of which are important factors in managing hepatitis. While more research is needed to fully understand the mechanisms behind these effects and to determine the optimal dosages and methods of using honey for hepatitis, the scientific evidence suggests that honey can be a useful natural remedy for those with hepatitis. As always, it is important to consult with a healthcare professional in the event of experiencing serious symptoms.

Studies have shown that raw organic honey can help reduce pain and inflammation associated with fibromyalgia. A 2018 study published in the Journal of Evidence-Based Integrative Medicine found that honey improved pain scores and sleep quality in fibromyalgia patients. The study also found that honey helped to reduce the levels of inflammatory markers in the patients' blood.
]]>Fibromyalgia is a chronic disorder characterized by widespread pain, fatigue, sleep disturbances, and other symptoms. It affects up to 5% of the UK population, with women being more commonly affected than men. While the exact cause of fibromyalgia remains unclear, many researchers believe that it is caused by abnormalities in the central nervous system's processing of pain signals.
While there is currently no cure for fibromyalgia, there are various treatments that can help manage its symptoms. One such treatment is the use of raw organic honey. Raw organic honey is known for its antimicrobial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties, which make it an effective natural remedy for many health conditions, including fibromyalgia.

The study also found that honey helped to reduce the levels of inflammatory markers in the patients' blood.
Another study published in the Journal of Medicinal Food in 2013 found that honey had anti-inflammatory effects in the brains of rats. The researchers observed that honey reduced inflammation in the rats' brains and improved their cognitive function.
Raw organic honey also contains various nutrients and compounds that can help improve overall health and wellbeing. For example, honey is rich in antioxidants, which help protect the body against oxidative stress and damage. It also contains vitamins and minerals, such as vitamin C, calcium, and iron, which support overall health.
When using raw organic honey to manage fibromyalgia symptoms, it is important to choose a high-quality product that is free from additives, preservatives, and other contaminants. Look for honey that has been certified as organic and raw, as these products are less processed and retain more of their natural nutrients and health benefits.

]]>Angina is a condition characterized by chest pain or discomfort that occurs when the heart does not receive enough oxygen-rich blood. While angina is often treated with medication, some people prefer to use natural remedies to manage their symptoms. One such remedy is raw organic honey.
Raw organic honey is honey that has been minimally processed, preserving its natural enzymes and nutrients. Unlike processed honey, which may contain additives and artificial sweeteners, raw organic honey is pure and unadulterated. This type of honey is believed to have many health benefits, including the ability to soothe heart-related problems like angina.
The exact mechanism by which raw organic honey helps with angina is not well understood. However, it is believed that its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties may help to reduce inflammation and improve overall heart health. Additionally, the natural antioxidants found in raw organic honey may help to protect the heart from oxidative stress, a leading cause of heart disease.
There is limited scientific evidence on the use of honey for angina specifically. However, there is some research suggesting that honey may have cardiovascular benefits that could be relevant for angina.
One study published in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics found that daily consumption of honey was associated with lower levels of total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol (often referred to as "bad" cholesterol), and triglycerides, all of which are risk factors for cardiovascular disease, including angina.
Another study published in the Journal of Medicinal Food found that consuming honey improved various markers of heart health, including blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and antioxidant status, in a group of postmenopausal women.
The best way to use raw organic honey for angina is to consume a teaspoon of 20+ ACTIVE Raw Organic Coffee Bean Honey mixed in a glass of lukewarm water half an hour before breakfast every day. This may help to improve overall heart health and reduce symptoms of chest pain and discomfort. It is also recommended to adopt a heart-healthy lifestyle, including regular exercise, a balanced diet, and stress management.

]]>Acid reflux is a common digestive disorder that occurs when stomach acid backs up into the esophagus, causing heartburn and other symptoms. While there are many over-the-counter and prescription medications available to treat acid reflux, some people prefer to use natural remedies to manage their symptoms. One natural remedy that has been shown to be effective for acid reflux is raw organic honey.

The exact mechanism by which raw organic honey helps with acid reflux is not well understood. However, it is believed that its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties may help to soothe the esophagus and reduce inflammation. Additionally, the natural enzymes and nutrients found in raw organic honey may help to regulate digestive function, improving overall gut health.
There have been some studies investigating the potential benefits of honey for acid reflux, but the evidence is limited and mixed.
One study published in the Journal of Medicinal Food found that consuming honey before a meal reduced symptoms of acid reflux in a group of patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). The authors suggested that the antibacterial properties of honey may help to reduce inflammation in the gut, thus reducing symptoms of GERD.
On the other hand, another study published in the World Journal of Gastroenterology found that honey may actually increase acid production in the stomach, potentially worsening symptoms of acid reflux.
The best way to use raw organic honey for acid reflux is to mix a teaspoon of 20+ ACTIVE Raw Organic Coffee Bean Honey from Mexico in a glass of lukewarm water before bedtime. This may help to neutralize stomach acid and reduce symptoms of heartburn. It is also recommended to avoid foods and drinks that trigger acid reflux, such as spicy or fatty foods, alcohol, and caffeine.
